Line Ship Balance

Effective date: 2026-10-05

This policy explains how this application handles information and how to contact us about privacy.

Information we process

Line Ship Balance stores campaign stars, completed voyages with dates and ship types, the current round, undo history, daily challenge cache, pending daily results, an optional player name and preferences on your device. The player name is never sent to the server. When you use an online daily challenge, the server receives the request. When a daily result is synchronized, it receives the challenge date, stars and move count. An automatically issued random installation secret is stored in the device Keychain; the server stores only its SHA-256 hash with an installation identifier and creation time. Results include server creation and update times. Hosting infrastructure receives network metadata such as IP addresses, request paths and timestamps when requests are made, including visits to this public policy. No account, password, email address or geographic location is required.

How we use information

Local data lets you resume a puzzle, undo moves, unlock levels, view your journal and keep language, sound and accessibility preferences. The challenge cache supports offline play. The server supplies one daily puzzle and stores anonymous installation-scoped results, keeping the best result for a repeated submission. The installation secret authorizes result submission and deletion without an account. Request metadata is used for delivery, rate limiting and operational security. Optional notifications are scheduled locally to remind you of the daily puzzle.

Service providers and sharing

The backend and PostgreSQL database are hosted on Railway, which processes requests and infrastructure information to operate the service. The application uses Apple system networking, Keychain, audio and local notification services; it includes no advertising, analytics or social sign-in SDKs. Results are not exposed through a public personal-data endpoint. We do not sell your data. Apple may handle device backups according to your device settings. The privacy contact is sidonie.gladstone@icloud.com; contacting that address separately shares the information you choose to include with the owner and the email provider.

Data retention

Device progress and preferences remain until you reset them or remove the application, subject to your device's backup and restore behavior. The online challenge cache is reused for up to 24 hours for the current UTC date and then replaced. Pending daily results remain locally until synchronized or cleared by a reset or server-data deletion. Server installations and results remain until deletion is requested; the application does not impose an automatic retention period. Public daily challenge configurations are game content and may be retained. The in-memory rate limiter retains short-lived request counters and is lost on server restart. Railway's infrastructure-log and backup retention is governed by the hosting service and its configuration; no specific duration is promised here.

Deleting your information

Settings provides Delete my server results. It authenticates with your installation secret, deletes that installation and its results from the active database, clears pending submissions and removes the local secret after success. A future online result can create a new installation. Reset local progress separately clears your saved round, campaign stars, journal, daily cache, pending uploads, local player name and preferences, and cancels the local reminder. Removing the application clears its application storage, but Keychain and device backups can have different lifecycles; use the in-app server deletion before removing it. Deletion from an active database does not guarantee immediate erasure from infrastructure logs or existing provider or device backups. Such copies follow the relevant provider's lifecycle. If you lose the installation secret, the app cannot recover or identify those anonymous results for you.

Permissions and your choices

Notifications are optional and requested only when you enable the daily reminder. You can turn the reminder off in the app or withdraw notification permission in iOS Settings. Denial does not affect gameplay. The application does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo-library access. Sound and ambient music are controlled within the app and require no recording permission.

Your privacy rights

You can inspect your local progress in the journal, change local preferences, reset local progress and request deletion of server results through Settings. Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information and to contact a supervisory authority. Send privacy questions or requests to sidonie.gladstone@icloud.com. Do not send your installation secret. Because server records are anonymous and scoped to a secret, the owner may be unable to associate a request with a record without the app's authenticated deletion mechanism.

Security

The app communicates with the deployed backend over HTTPS. The installation secret is held in Keychain with device-only accessibility and is never embedded as a shared credential. The server hashes tokens, checks authorization for each result submission and deletion, validates inputs, limits requests and uses a private database connection in Railway. Application error logs do not intentionally include tokens or result bodies. These measures reduce risks but no device, network or hosting system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Line Ship Balance is intended for puzzle players aged 16 and older and is not designed to collect children's personal information. It does not require an account or a real name. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact sidonie.gladstone@icloud.com so the situation can be reviewed. Local data and anonymous results can be deleted using the controls described above.
